1. Nature of Crowdsourced Data

HopSmart compiles community-contributed mobility insights, alerts, and commuter lifehacks to simplify urban transport in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, and Durban.

Because this information is supplied by fellow daily commuters, **we do not guarantee the absolute accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any shared tip, route recommendation, delay alert, or price guide.** Public transport systems, taxi fares, Gautrain timetables, and Metrorail schedules change rapidly and without warning. Always cross-verify critical information directly with formal operators.

⚠️ Personal Commuter Safety Disclaimer

South African transit hubs, Metrorail stations, and taxi ranks present unique local challenges. **Commuters are solely responsible for exercising personal caution, situational awareness, and safety measures during transit.** HopSmart does not accept liability for any security incidents, route delays, losses, or physical harm encountered during travel. If you spot an active hazard, follow official emergency procedures first.

2. No Affiliation with Transit Authorities

HopSmart is an independent urban mobility platform and has **no direct corporate affiliation, endorsement, or formal partnership** with:

  • Gautrain, Bombela Operating Company, or Gautrain Management Agency.
  • PRASA, Metrorail, or Shosholoza Meyl.
  • Rea Vaya, Ariva, Metrobus, Golden Arrow Bus Services, or Durban Transport.
  • Local Minibus Taxi Associations or taxi councils (e.g. SANTACO).
  • E-hailing services (e.g. Uber, Bolt, InDrive).

All registered trademarks, logos, and company titles referenced in commuter tips remain the exclusive property of their respective owners.

3. Operational Availability

We provide HopSmart on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind. While our Progressive Web App (PWA) uses service workers to allow offline reading of cached tips, we do not warrant that our servers will operate continuously, error-free, or be completely secure from remote database disruptions.
